Upgrades are covered as part of your QuantumCMS license. If you are a hosted client, your site will be automatically upgraded when the next QuantumCMS version is released. You'll be notified of your scheduled upgrade date in case you have any questions or concerns.
Each hosted QuantumCMS web site is upgraded by one of our skilled developers. We begin by copying the site to our testing environment and then perform an upgrade to the latest version of QuantumCMS. The public facing web site and authoring tool are tested to confirm that the upgrade was successful.
Then, a backup is created of the web site's database and the upgrade is completed in our production environment. Sometimes, there will be a brief period of downtime while the upgrade is being completed. In general, we recommend that you refrain from authoring during an upgrade to avoid any potential loss of data. Once the upgrade has been completed, we test the public facing production web site and authoring tool to once again confirm success.

If your QuantumCMS web site is hosted elsewhere, the upgrade process is pretty much the same, but we'll reach out to you to schedule the upgrade at a time that works best for you.
