Users and Roles

Users and roles are divided into Authoring and Public categories in QuantumCMS. Authoring users and roles are related to the management of web site content via QuantumCMS, while public users and roles are related to accessing password-protected pages on the public side of the web site.

Adding Authoring Users

Step 1: Click the Settings link in the top navigation and select “Authoring Users” from the menu.

Step 2: You can edit an existing user by clicking the Edit button next to the appropriate record. Otherwise, click the Add button and fill out the required fields. It is highly recommended that you add an email address for all users, because it is necessary for the “Forgot Password” feature. You may also consider checking the “Must Change Password” box to prompt a new user to change their password the first time he or she logs in. Press the Save button when you are finished.

Step 3: Press the Roles button. On the following page, select the role or roles that are appropriate for the new user and press the < button. Below, is an overview of default Authoring Roles.

Default Authoring Roles

Administrator
Administrators have access to all features and functions in QuantumCMS. Only a few users should by Administrators.

Publishers
Publishers can Add, Edit, Publish, and Delete pages, and have permissions to manage files and applications. Assign users to this Role if you want them to edit content and applications across the site.

Editors
Editors can Add, Edit, Publish, and Delete pages, and have permission to manage files. Assign users to this Role if you want them to edit content across the site.

Authors
Authors can Add and Edit pages and manage files. Assign users to this Role if you want them to prepare new content that will be reviewed before publishing.

Adding Public Users

Step 1: Click the Settings link in the top navigation and select “Public Users” from the menu.

Step 2: You can edit an existing user by clicking the Edit button next to the appropriate record. Otherwise, click the Add button and fill out the required fields. It is highly recommended that you add an email address for all users, because it is necessary for the “Forgot Password” feature. You may also consider checking the “Must Change Password” box to prompt a new user to change their password the first time he or she logs in. Press the Save button when you are finished.

Step 3: Press the Roles button. On the following page, select the role or roles that are appropriate for the new user and press the < button. Please note: You will only see Public roles, which only allow users to view pages on the public facing web site.

Adding Authoring Roles

Step 1: Click the Settings link in the top navigation and select “Authoring Roles” from the menu.

Step 2: You can edit an existing role by clicking the Edit button next to the appropriate record. Otherwise, click the Add button and fill out the required fields.

Step 3: Press the Permissions button. On the following page, select the permissions that are appropriate for the new user and press the < button. Press the Save button when you are finished.

Default Authoring Permissions

Manage Content
This permission allows the user to access the Navigation Tree and File Manager and manage content in the Authoring tool.

Manage Content System
This permission allows the user to manage QuantumCMS’s core content features like Page Types and Devices.

Manage Custom Forms
This permission allows the user to access the Custom Form Builder.

Manage Files
This permission allows users to use the File Manager in QuantumCMS. These users can upload and delete files within the File Manager.

Manage Public Roles
This permission allows the user to add and edit Public Roles.

Manage Public Users
This permission allows the user to add and edit Public Users.

Page - Add
This permission allows users to add a page in QuantumCMS. They can create pages, create the details section of the page, and add content to the page. They cannot publish the page unless they have that permission as well.

Page - Delete
This permission allows users to delete existing pages in QuantumCMS.

Page - Edit
This permission allows users to edit an existing page in QuantumCMS. Users cannot change the published status of the page unless they have that permission as well.

Page - Manage Applications
This permission allows the user to manage any custom applications that are included with your installation of QuantumCMS. Consult your custom documentation for more information about any custom applications in your installation of QuantumCMS

Page - Manage Permissions
This permission allows the user to manage public and authoring tool access to specific pages in the system.

Page - Publish
This permission allows the user to publish and unpublish pages in QuantumCMS. Publishing a page makes the page viewable by visitors to your web site.

Page - View
The permission allows the user to view any existing pages within the public site of QuantumCMS.

Site - Edit
This permission allows the user to make changes to the Site’s global properties.
