In QuantumCMS 5, we have completely rebuilt the site tree. There are a lot of changes under the hood, visual enhancements, and several new features (including drag and drop support) that we believe will make it a considerable improvement. Here's a quick overview.
The first thing that you may notice is that the tree looks a bit different. We’ve enhanced the tree with new page type icons, typeface, and styles, but, for the most part, it still resembles the previous version. Here’s a comparison between the new tree and the previous version:
And here's a comparison of the individual page type icons:
We’ve added a new feature in the tree to indicate when a page has one or more drafts. In those cases, a small pencil will be overlaid atop the page type icon.
The new tree now supports drag-and-drop for both moving and sorting pages in all supported browsers (Chrome, Firefox, Safar, and IE7+).
You may still sort pages by using the sorting buttons in the toolbar above the tree, but you may now also sort by dragging a page and dropping it between two other pages. You’ll notice that when you hold your cursor over the space between two pages, a green line will appear to indicate that you may drop the page in that space.
Note: you may use this technique to move a page to another expanded section of the tree.
You may move pages by dragging a page and dropping it on another page. You’ll notice that when you hold your cursor over the page, it will get a green background to indicate that you may drop the page. The dropped page will be become a child of the targeted page.
When you sort or move a page by drag-and-drop, you’ll be prompted to confirm that you actually want to move the page.
Likewise, you’ll see a dialog when you move a page that allows you to automatically leave an alias. By leaving an alias, users will be forwarded to the new address of the page when they attempt to access the previous address.
