f you are a regular user of QuantumCMS 4, then you may already be aware of our History feature. With this feature you can view, and ultimately restore to, any previously saved version of a page. This is very handy if you have accidentally posted some content too soon, or content filled with errors, or just changed your mind about your writing tone (although many other examples surely exist). You can review a prior version of the page and then restore to the one you like best. Each time you press the Save button, we store that page as a new version.
You may notice a new option in the screen capture below, called Create Draft. Keep reading...
In QuantumCMS 4.1 we have added a new feature called Drafts. With this feature you can start to work on edits to an existing page without affecting the currently published page that is live on your site. This is especially useful if you need to start work on some pretty lengthy changes and don't want to have to overwrite the existing page as you go.
At any time you can take a previous version of a page from the History and create a new Draft from it. This is handy if you have an older version of the page that's very close to what you ultimately want. All you need to do is make it into a draft and start editing.
Another useful aspect of this feature is that should your session expire and you are logged out of the authoring tool while working on a page, the page is automatically saved as a Draft so you don't lose all your work. All you need to do is log back in and resume your work.
As always, if you have questions about page drafts and history within QuantumCMS, please feel free to contact us.
