Can I make changes to my site from any computer? Yes, the authoring tool requires a computer connected to the Internet, running Internet Explorer 6.0 or greater on Windows.
Can QuantumCMS control who in my organization has the right to publish to the live site? Yes, when users are added the system, you can choose what abilities they have (author, edit, publish, or administrator). These permissions can be set for the entire set, on a section, or page basis. This way you can let people have edit/author/publish access to only certain pages on your site.
Can I cut and paste content from other sources into QuantumCMS? Yes, the content editor allows you to paste content from other sources, and even offers options to remove or limit the formatting. This includes a feature to paste from Microsoft Word, or to paste all content as plain text.
Is it possible to lock in the "typestyles" so content editors can't change them? Yes. We accomplish this globally using Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) so that every page on the site has a consistent style.
How do I change the look of my pages? E.g. I want the navigation on the side. At this time, the templates in QCMS can be changed by a designer. However, you can modify the layout of the body area of your page by editing in the WYSIWYG editor.
What is the difference between "Published" and "Appear in Navigation" when I am editing the page? When content is published, a user will see the page if they go to the page. Unpublished pages can not be seen outside of the authoring tool. When a page is marked for "Appear in Site Navigation," the page is available to be drawn in the navigation. A page that is published, but does not appear in the navigation can be viewed by the user, but they will not be able to click to it through the navigation in the site. In QuantumCMS 2.0, these two properties were the same, and were called "Published."
I typed a word into the search that I know is in a page, but the page does not appear. Why not? There are several reasons. For a page to appear in the search it must be published and you must have checked the "Searchable" checkbox. Also, new content does not immediately become searchable. The indices used by the search are updated periodically, usually within an hour. In some cases, if the word appears inside or next to special characters (such as } or < ), the search engine may not find it. Please report any incidences of this type of problem so that we may correct it.
I have a user who can't see changes I have made to a page, but I can see them on my browser. What is going on? This problem occurs most frequently with images and files such as Microsoft Word documents and PDFs. Many browsers also perform what is called caching to try and improve performance. QCMS 3.0 will try and tell these browsers when to update their cache, but in some rare circumstances it may be necessary to clear this cache before a user can see updated content. The easiest way to clear the cache is to tell the user to hold down the Control key while pressing the refresh button in his/her browser.
How can I delete a folder in the file manager? This is not possible at this time. This feature will be available in a future release.
